Between the luxury Pier One Sydney Harbour Hotel and the apartments of The Pier lies the busy Walsh Bay Arts Precinct. For some years this has housed outstanding arts organisations such as Sydney Theatre Company, Sydney Dance Company, Bangarra Dance Theatre, Sydney Philharmonia Choir and Australian Theatre for Young People, with their theatres, rehearsal facilities and dance studios. Now the State government is further developing this prime location to add more arts facilities and performance venues for more organisations including The Australian Chamber Orchestra and Bell Shakespeare, as well retaining a large heritage space for big events such as the Sydney Writers Festival and the Biennale of Sydney.
